Even the mighty could not sway the Palestinians: Pakistani classical dancer

The four-day World Urdu Conference organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan concluded with classical dancer Amina Mowaz’s dance on the theme of Israeli aggression in Gaza.

As Amna Mowaz began to belt out the classical Bharatnatyam titled ‘As Par Aur As Par’, the hall was packed with no standing room and all eyes were focused on the stage.

After a 40-minute continuous performance, Amina Mowaz spoke to Independent Urdu in a special interview in which she said that ‘Dance is not a bad act in any way. Every part of the body, even this system of nature, is all in motion, all is dance.’

He said, ‘I think that a message can be conveyed through dance and this is the reason why I performed for Gaza today, in which through my mudra I shed light on the story of the oppression of Palestine. Is.’

Who is Amina Mowaz?

Amina Mowaz Khan (born 22 July 1989) is a Pakistani classical Bharatnatyam dancer. She is also a theater artist, feminist and political activist, a founding member of the Women Democratic Front.

Amina Mowaz Khan started learning classical dance at the age of 11 and has been performing Bharatnatyam for 23 years and continues to learn till date.

She has conducted dance workshops all over Pakistan as well as in China, USA, India, Switzerland and UK. Amina has performed her classical dance in several art and literature festivals.

Theater artist

As a social activist and feminist, Amina uses art as a tool for social change.

Bharatnatyam is a rare form of classical Indian dance. Amna’s aim is to preserve this rare classical dance in the country and bring this art to others.
