Even at less than 300 euros, the Arc A750 does not appeal to customers

The recommended retail price of the Arc A750 rose to 319 euros at the start of the month; it was 379 euros at the time of the launch in France, last October. Despite this sharp drop in price, Intel’s graphics card still does not seem to be selling: to sell off inventory, some retailers are going down to 275 euros.

Since its launch in October, the Arc A750 graphics card does not seem to meet with great success with customers. To help the GPU find a buyer, Intel decided to reduce the recommended retail price at the beginning of February: it went from 379 euros to 319 euros. At the time of this reduction, however, it was already possible to find Arc A750 Limited Edition for around 300 euros. Intel’s price adjustment does not seem to have borne fruit: almost a month later, some retailers are offering Arc A750s at around 275 euros.

This is the case of PC21.fr; the wholesaler also lists more than 1200 cards available. Well, the reliability of this retailer is quite questionable. However, Arc A750s are also available at lower prices than recommended by Amazon: 299 euros for a model with free delivery, 276 euros for a card with higher shipping costs. At TopAchat, the only Arc A750 available costs 304 euros.

This situation is not exclusive to France since across the Channel, the Arc A750 is available from 249.95 pounds, or 282 euros in gross conversion. Anyway, if most retailers are still offering discounts on this graphics card, it is because it is struggling to find buyers.

The Arc A750, a graphics card worthy of interest?

Since the release of the A750, Intel teams have regularly released drivers, often several versions per month. Thus, as we reported yesterday in an article, the A700 cards are a little more efficient in games than at the start of their marketing. So there is clearly better side software support, even if, first generation obliges, the competitors remain in front.

It is always risky to speculate on the failure of a product, especially in the context of a sharp drop in demand. The main problem with the Arc A750 is perhaps its direct competitor, the Radeon RX 6600 (we put aside the GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 3050, which tend to be sold between 310-350 and 350-450 euros). AMD’s graphics card, which is an excellent choice for gaming at 1080p, does slightly better overall than the Arc A750 in this definition (slightly worse at 1440p). To top it all off, the Radeon RX 6600 is significantly better in terms of energy efficiency. Above all, it enjoys the brand’s reputation, which is necessarily much more flattering in terms of dedicated GPUs, and offers the assurance of long-term support.

Finally, the purchase of the AMD card still allows you to obtain two games (Dead Island 2 and The Callisto Protocol) via the Raise the Game bundle. Intel also offers a bundle, including two games (Nightingale and The Settlers) and several professional software, but partner European retailers are not legion.

In short, as it stands, with a price so close to that of the Radeon RX 6600s, it is unlikely that the Arc A750 will win over the crowds. We’ll see how far Intel is able to lower the price to make it attractive.
