Aerosols, heated drugs, electromagnetic energy
“Now there are quite a lot of new and promising methods of treating malignant diseases. These treatments include: targeted therapy, microwave ablation of tumors, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), PIPAC therapy (intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy).
Let’s take a closer look at what these methods are.
Target therapy – a method of drug antitumor therapy, in which drugs act only on tumor cells at the molecular level. Medicines block the growth of neoplasms and at the same time do not affect healthy tissues.
Microwave ablation – a method of low-traumatic treatment of tumors. The tumor is affected by electromagnetic energy. It forces water molecules to move, and under the influence of friction force, tissues are heated to a temperature of 120 degrees Celsius. As a result, cancer cells die. This technique is often used to treat kidney cancerpancreas, lungs and bones.
Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy – one of the most highly effective methods of drug anticancer therapy. With this type of treatment, heated chemotherapy drugs are injected into the abdominal cavity affected by the tumor process.
PIPAC therapy (intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy) – the use of chemotherapy drugs in the form of aerosols injected into the abdominal cavity under pressure.
