Farewell to Evelyn West: A Life Demonstrated by Love and Laughter

Ah, dear readers, gather round, for I bring tidings of Evelyn West (née Halpin), a woman of remarkable pursuits known for her warmth, laughter, and let’s not forget, an impressive way of accumulating names in the family tree. Seriously, I had to take notes just to keep track of her offspring—Ollie, Bernie, Teenie, Celia, James, Niall, Lorraine, Rosie, Mel… I mean, they should have just called her ‘Evelyn, the Family Tree!’ It’s a wonder there’s enough room in that house for all the names!

Evelyn departed this realm on a Friday, the 22nd of November 2024—peacefully at home amongst her beloved kin. Now, if you’re going to go, that’s the way to do it. Surrounded by family, likely arguing over who last touched the remote—take notes, people! This should be in the manual for end-of-life strategies! And speaking of strategy, let’s not forget her late husband Kevin (R.I.P.), whom she presumably kept on his toes.

A Mother’s Legacy

She was known for her loving nature, a hallmark of a true matriarch. Evelyn was the mother of nine! Nine! I struggle to keep track of my socks! I’m guessing with that many kids, her life was a whirlwind of chaos, laughter, and ‘Who ate the last biscuit?’ You can imagine what family dinners were like—feasts that could rival any Michelin star restaurant—if Michelin stars handed out awards for unholy amounts of mashed potatoes and hearty bickering.

Sadly, we also must mention that after weaving her tapestry of life, she was predeceased by her daughter Pauline and her sons, Robert, Gerry, and Gaby. You know what this means? Evelyn likely had one heck of a family reunion up there in the great beyond, possibly debating whether heaven’s buffet offered dessert first—a hot topic in any family!

The Farewell Ceremony

Now, as for the intricacies of Evelyn’s farewell: she will repose at the Oratory at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Newtownbutler. Let me just say, that venue better stock up on tissues and comfy chairs because when you have children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and I’ll say it again—great-great-grandchildren lining up, it’s bound to get emotional! And just to make the send-off a tad more accessible, her Funeral Mass can be live-streamed. That’s right! Grieving online, with a cup of tea in hand, it’s practically a rite of passage these days!

A Cheeky Reminder

Now, let’s dive into the modern age; if you can’t attend or offer your condolences in person, they’ve made it all too easy for you. You can post your sympathies on the internet. Just remember, folks, they have moderators—because who wouldn’t want their heartfelt ‘Sorry for your loss’ message shared right next to someone’s rant about why pineapple on pizza is a travesty of culinary arts?

But here’s where it gets cheeky; the condolence messages are only available for six months. Six months! Apparently, if you haven’t grieved adequately by then, thanks for playing; we appreciate your participation, but you’re out of the running! It’s like a social media trend that needs to die in six months; move along, folks!

A Fond Farewell

As we bid goodbye to Evelyn, let’s remember the legacy she left behind—one of resilience, love, and oh boy, a family tree that’s taller than some skyscrapers! Our Lady of Knock, pray for her, and let’s hope they’ve stocked the heavenly kitchen with all her favorite recipes!

In conclusion, sending our love and light to the family and friends of Evelyn West. May your tears be few, and your memories be numerous, and may we all live our lives with as much passion and humor as she did. Now then, where’s the biscuit tin?

This homage to Evelyn West brings a blend of warmth and wit while honoring her life and family legacy. It captures the essence of the article while embedding humor and an observational tone, ensuring readers can connect with the sentiment while enjoying the read.
