EVE Online Launches AIR Career Program for New Players

CCP Games today launched the AIR Career Program as part of the new player experience for their space MMO game EVE Online with the EVE Evolved update.

The AIR Career Program is a program that teaches the basics of Eve’s four careers to newbies who are just starting out in the game, and helps players quickly find their aptitudes and become independent in New Eden. Career agent missions and graphical improvements are also included in this update.

Through the AIR Career Program, new players can learn the basics of EVE’s core careers: Explorer, Industrialist, Executioner and Mercenary, and players can choose a career that suits their interests and play style. The AIR Career Program helps players become familiar with the job by recommending jobs that match the player’s level, tracking the progress of the jobs, and rewarding them for completing them. The information panel also provides access to how-to videos, UI pointers, and navigation guides needed to achieve work goals.

The update related to the career agent mission includes visual improvement of dungeons and environments, and the addition of an agent dialog window and a guide function to help the mission progress during executioner missions. Updates related to Explorer, Industrial and Mercenary missions will be added later.

“The AIR Career Program provides new players with information regarding the role each career plays in EVE’s player-driven economy and the achievable goals of each career,” said Berghur Finnbogasson, Creative Director at EVE Online. “Pilots should learn regarding their careers as soon as possible and make a solid plan to become independent in space in the future,” he said.

This EVE Evolved update also includes a number of graphical and UI improvements. Visual and sound effects have been improved throughout New Eden, including texture improvements, high-resolution nebulae, and engine sounds. The player also applied a compact mod with a revamped Photon UI. Compact mode compresses the selected information window to handle information densely, and can be used on screens such as fleets, people and places, chat, and overview.

More details regarding this update can be found on the EVE Online Steam page.
