Eve begins the deployment of Matter and will soon offer its Android app

The specialist in home automation and connected objects for the home Eve is today implementing what it had announced at IFA 2022 in Berlin about Matter. The new standard for the connected home is indeed available in a version 1.0 since october.

In a press release, the manufacturer announces that three of its devices can be updated to support Matter. These are the Eve Energy connected plug, the Eve Door & Window wireless contact sensor, and the Eve Motion wireless motion sensor, all three of which are compatible with the Thread communication protocol. Eve does not intend to stop there and will gradually update its other Thread-compatible devices.

A total of 14 connected objects are concerned. Owners of these devices will be able to update the firmware via the Eve app (iOS), while products released in the first quarter of 2023 will benefit from Matter certification, and will therefore be natively compatible.

Matter first, Android second

Eve has always favored users of Apple devices, but wants to open up to more users. An Android application is under development for availability in early 2023: “The new era of the connected home is here and we will now invite users from all major ecosystems to experience Eve.”

The arrival of the Matter protocol could indeed promote interest in connected household objects by facilitating their use. This will allow you to control them all from a single app without having to use different software for each manufacturer.
