The Rockhal once once more turned into a metal temple on Thursday evening. With, as often in recent weeks, a double poster. On the one hand, Evanescence, heavyweight of American metal with 23 million albums sold. On the other, the Dutch group Within Temptation, a sure bet on the symphonic metal scene. Their common point? Being led by charismatic singers: Amy Lee and Sharon den Adel.

The singer of Evanescence pushed high on “My Immortal”, started on the piano, like “Far From Heaven”. This piece was taken from the latest album, “The Bitter Truth”, like “Use My Voice”, a committed title. Amy Lee appeared high up like a metal goddess on “Broken Pieces Shine.” The sound of Evanescence was powerful, hard like stone (“Made of Stone”), with riffs sometimes supported by electro pads. The Americans were pleasing fans with their hits “Going Under” or “Bring Me To Life”.

“Sanctus Espiritus” sang Sharon den Adel on the chorus of “Our Solemn Hour”. Surrounded by her musicians, the singer had arrived at the heart of an opulent scenography. She chained the symphonic metal hymns, (“Faster”, “Paradise”), raising her voice very high. The flames sprang up on “Stand My Ground”, Sharon hoisted the Ukrainian flag on “Raise Your Banner”, the show was total. On Thursday, two pagan goddesses ignited the temple of metal.
