Austin Peay Names Evan Amstutz Tenth Head Volleyball Coach
Austin Peay State University athletics welcomes Evan Amstutz as the tenth head volleyball coach. Vice President and Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison announced the decision, highlighting the success Amstutz cultivated throughout his coaching career and his vision for the Govs.

Amstutz brings extensive experience from a career filled with accolades. In
his five seasons at Stephen F. Austin, he acted as associate head
coach after his initial role as assistant coach. During his tenure there,
SFA notched a remarkable 120-34 record, including a 78-18 record
during his time as associate head coach. Under Amstutz’s guidance, SFA secured the 2022 WAC
Tournament Championship and the 2023 WAC Regular-Season Championship, making history with their
first at-large NCAA Tournament appearance.

A Proven Record
Amstuz carried forward his winning tradition prior to
SFA. For two seasons, he stocked the trophy cabinet, guiding
the Angelo State Rambelles to an impressive 51-13 record. The
Rambelles achieved their zenith during his time there, winning the Lone
Star Conference championship in 2019.
Amstutz possesses a deep understanding
of the game. His very first head coaching

**You bring a remarkable track record of success to Austin Peay, including a WAC Tournament Championship and Regular-Season Championship with Stephen F. Austin. How do you plan to translate that success to the Govs?**
“My philosophy has always been about building a strong team culture based on hard work, dedication, and positive relationships. At SFA, we focused on developing strong fundamentals, challenging each other to grow, and playing with passion. I believe those same principles will translate well to Austin Peay. We have talented athletes here, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together.”
**What are your initial goals for the program?**
“Immediately, we’ll focus on building strong relationships with our players and establishing a clear vision for the program. We want to compete at the highest level in the conference and beyond. Ultimately, my goal is to create a program that makes the Austin Peay community proud and inspires our players to reach their full potential both on and off the court.”
