Euskal Trails 2023: Bigger, Better, and Breathtaking - Register Now!

The new edition of Euskal Trails will be held on 10 and 11 May in the Basque Country. The event is organized by the Euskal Raid association, in the Baïgorri valley. The organizers almost expect 3,500 participants, runners from the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, but also from the rest of France. With Euskal Trails you must expect to see “double the population of the valley”for a weekend, the organizers warn.

Successful pair run

Several competitions are planned. For the second year in a row, we find the 65 kilometres, in pairs. This race is very popular and the number of participants is increasing this year. If it is a sport that is mainly played individually, the organizers want “prefers participation in pairs and the accompanying solidarity between runners”.

There will also be the now traditional gourmet trails, the Euskal trail and the Iluna trail. As for the ultra trail, it will be led by Guillaume Beauxis and Maxime Cazajous. Next to 400 volunteers will also be mobilized during the event.

ONE award ceremony will take place at the end of the two days, Saturday 11 May, at 18:00, after the arrival of the ultra trail runners. The ceremony will be followed by an aperitif in the Irouléguy cellar.

During the 2023 edition, it was Benat Marmissolle who emerged victorious in the ultra trail.

The detailed program

The Ttiki Trail, from 1 to 3 kilometers, depending on age. No classification at the finish, scheduled for Thursday 9 May in the afternoon.
Girl test (reserved for girls): 8 kilometers in pairs, scheduled for Friday 10 May, at 17.30, departing from Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry.
Up the path (night): 27 kilometers (1500 m+), in pairs, scheduled for Friday 10 May at 21.30, departing from Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry.
Trail Gourmand : 2×25 kilometers (2,500 m+), in pairs and in two stages, departure Friday 10 May and Saturday 11 May, in Urepel.
Basque path : 2×40 kilometers (4000 m+), in pairs and in two stages, Friday 10 May and Saturday 11 May at 06.30, departure from Urepel.
Basque perseverance : 65 kilometers (3800+) in pairs, scheduled for Friday 10 May at 05.30, departing from Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry.
Ultra Trail: 130 kilometers (7500 m+), in pairs or solo, departure Friday 10 May at 05.00 from Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry.
