EU’s big announcement, withdraws decision to stop aid to Palestinians

The European Union withdrew its decision to freeze $729 million in development aid to the Palestinians for now. Immediately following the attack by Hamas, the European Union Commission announced to stop this aid to Palestine.

The European Union has said in a statement that the development aid received by the Palestinians is not being stopped.

After European Union Commissioner Oliver Wahli announced the immediate suspension of all development aid to the Palestinians, the European Commission said in its brief statement that the aid to the Palestinians is not being stopped, but a review of all 729 million dollars of aid. It will be taken that it is not being misused anywhere.

The European Commission added in its statement that all projects will be reviewed and new budget proposals will be delayed until further notice.

Following the European Commission’s announcement, Spain, Ireland and France opposed the decision, saying it amounted to blaming all Palestinians for the widely condemned Hamas attack.

He said that the European Union does not directly or indirectly send any aid to Hamas, so the decision to stop the aid is questionable.

Member of the European Parliament Ioan Anser said that blaming all Palestinians for the attack by Hamas can only add fuel to the fire. A portion of the aid received by Palestine goes directly to the Palestinian Authority while the other major portion is given directly to various civil society organizations.

He said that our aid does not go to Hamas and this is something that EU Commissioner Oliver Wahli knows very well, but he is lying to the people of Europe and trying to give the impression that the EU is funding Hamas. It helps.
