Eurozone private sector growth slows in January

The results of the IHS Markit think tank survey today showed that private sector growth in the eurozone slowed during the month of January, with the impact of the Omicron pivot on the sector.

The composite production index fell to an 11-month low of 52.4 in January, compared to 53.3 in December.

The service sector has grown at the slowest pace since last April, while the pace of growth in the industrial sector has accelerated since last August, according to “Al Almanya”.

The services purchasing managers’ index registered 51.2, compared to 53.1 last December. Economists had expected it to reach 52.2.

The manufacturing purchasing managers’ index rose to 59.0 compared to 58.0.
