“Eurovision is a puzzle of factors” – Publimetro México

MADRID, 5 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Murcian singer Ruth Lorenzo –who represented Spain in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest held in Copenhagen (Denmark) with ‘Dancing in the rain’– will replace Nieves Álvarez as spokesperson for the Spanish jury in this edition of Eurovision, a festival that has described as “a puzzle of factors”.

At a press conference held in Madrid, Lorenzo has revealed that this commission was recently communicated to her and that it was received with “great enthusiasm” since, as she recalled, for her Eurovision was “the door to enter Spain” following starting a career musical in the United Kingdom thanks, in part, to his participation in the ‘Factor X’ program in England where he performed songs like ‘Knockin on Heavens Door’ or ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’ with which he became a hole in the semifinal.

Specifically, the task entrusted to Lorenzo will be to communicate the results of the voting in Spain. In this sense, he has pointed out that “having representation of someone who has been on the Eurovision stage is a very nice nod to the festival and to what it means”.

“I hope I’m not wrong and I do all the technical part well out of respect for the countries and the participants who are receiving their scores”, the singer-songwriter declared.

On the other hand, the singer has indicated that, despite the fact that the select ‘Big 5’ (which includes Spain, Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom) constitutes a “very comfortable” position, it tends to harm these countries . “If we think of the countries that win Eurovision, none of them is in the Big 5. I would kill it directly,” she said.

Since 2022, RTVE has organized the Benidorm Fest to choose the song that represents Spain in the European contest, taking the legacy that, in 1959, started the Benidorm Spanish Song Festival in which artists such as Julio Iglesias, Raphael, Víctor participated. Manuel or Karina, among others.

Lorenzo has valued the new format which, he highlights, has been taken up by “people who love music and want to give artists visibility”. “Bringing that festival to life and doing it well is important and I’m delighted,” said the Murcian.

This year 2023, Blanca Paloma will be in charge of representing Spain at the 67th Eurovision gala that the city of Liverpool will host, under the motto ‘United by music’, on May 9, 11 and 13. For the new spokesperson for the Spanish jury, the woman from Elche – who will attend the contest with her song ‘EAEA’ – is “an incredible artist, who is doing very well and you have to forget regarding the position in which she is going to end up”.

“As a partner, I would see her as a winner. As someone who likes Eurovision and taking away the illusion of being Spanish, I would love to see her in a ‘top 10′” declared Lorenzo.

Likewise, he has stressed that, when participating in Eurovision, “you do not have to think regarding the position or the position, but regarding other keys that may lead you to a better position” and points out that, if you do not have the intention of “doing something memorable”, the artist stays “half throttle”.

He has also warned of the musical potential of the performance of the representative of Armenia, Brunette, which he assures “comes quietly strong” with a “great song, a very beautiful staging and a very good spirit”. However, he has assured that he would “love” the winner to be the representative of Sweden, Loreen, whom he has described as a “warrior”.

During the presentation of the new spokeswoman, the director of Communication and Participation of RTVE, María Eizaguirre, has announced that on May 12 and 13 Benidorm will host a series of concerts with Soraya, Sofía Martín, Megara, Sharonne or José Otero.

“LIBERTAD” IN HIS NEW LIFE AS AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST

Ruth Lorenzo has also had time to talk regarding her time as an independent artist, which she says has given her “freedom”. Soon, she will present an EP and has announced that she has surprises prepared for September of this year.

In this line, he has assured that, although “the artist depends on the public”, this new stage has allowed him to stop “battling”. “I have stopped fighting, I have crowned myself”, he has added to her.

“I’m tired of not having 100% control of my career, that others decided for me and that, when things didn’t go well, they raised their hands and ran away. So, I roll up my sleeves and keep working and that’s what I expect from the team that surrounds me”, has sentenced the singer.
