EUROVISION – They may not be favorites of bookmakers, unlike l’Ukrainemore Alvan & Ahez set fire to the Pala Alpitour in Turin. This Saturday, May 14, the representatives of France at Eurovision delivered an impressive performance of their title Fulenn.
The quartet was strong, thanks to a high-flying scenography: fire, smoke, but also daring plays of light. The ensemble gave the performance a mystical aura.

The song in Breton is inspired by a legend of the region, that of Katell Gollett. Kattel Gollet, or “Catherine the Lost”, was a young woman who loved to dance. She refused to marry to the great displeasure of her father who had her locked up in a tower. She escaped and, according to some versions, would have promised to marry the man who would be able to dance with her for 12 consecutive hours. After exhausting all of her partners, she came across an ultimate dancer who was Satan himself and dragged him down with him to hell.
This legend at the end, let’s say it, sordid illustrates the fate reserved for women in the Middle Ages. These were under male authority and underwent arranged marriages. Alvan & Ahez have decided to pay tribute to Kattel Gollet, saluting his determination to stand up to men in this Breton legend.
This Saturday, the French candidates were the sixth to go on stage. In case of victory, Alvan & Ahez would succeed Marie Myriam who had won the competition for France with her title The bird and the child. It was in 1977.
