European Union: Serbia and Kosovo did not reach an agreement to stop the tension

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo did not reach a solution at a crisis meeting in Brussels on Thursday, but agreed to hold more talks in the coming days to defuse tensions between their countries.

“Unfortunately, we have not yet reached an agreement today, but it is not the end,” he told reporters in Brussels following talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. The two leaders agreed that the process should continue and that discussions would resume in the coming days.

“There is still time until September 1, and I’m not giving up,” he added, referring to a deadline in a dispute over car license plates between Serbia and Kosovo.
