European-Ukrainian summit to be held on February 3 in Kiev, not Brussels | Abroad

For the EU, only von der Leyen and Charles Michel, President of the European Council, will participate, and therefore no heads of state or government. A spokesperson for Michel had already announced this ten days ago.

Since the summit will therefore take place in Kiev, speculation about a new foreign trip by the Ukrainian president can end for the time being. Zelensky’s visit to Washington in December was his first foreign mission since the start of the invasion. After that visit, Zelensky also received an “open invitation” to Brussels, but this has not yet been followed up.

Zelensky has addressed European leaders several times at summits in recent months. But that always happened via video connection.
