(Alliance News) – Piazza Affari met expectations and opened the first post-Christmas session with a slight increase, following the trend recorded by other European stock exchanges.
The FTSE Mib opened 0.2% higher at 30,406.27 on Wednesday, the Mid-Cap gained 0.5% to 44,680.77, the Small-Cap gained 0.5% to 28,067, 80 and Italy Growth rose 0.3% to 8,146.39.
In Europe, London’s FTSE 100 gained 0.5% to 7,736.86, Paris’ CAC 40 was flat at 7,567.61 and Frankfurt’s DAX 40 edged higher at 16,709.75.
Among the largest Milanese capitalizations, Siapem did better than everyone else at the start of the session, thanks to an increase of 2.5% and no less than 18 million shares changed hands in a few minutes following the bell.
Iveco, up 1.8%, and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, up 1.3%, also performed well.
The Iveco group notably announced on Friday that it had purchased 165,056 of its own ordinary shares between December 18 and 20. The shares were acquired at an average price of 7.9320 euros per share, for a total value of 1.3 million euros.
With these purchases, the first tranche of 55 million euros of the buyback program announced in April this year has ended.
Only Terna and Telecom Italia fell on the Mib, by 0.1% each.
On the Mid-Cap, Juventus grew by 1.7%. The company has received notification of the conclusion of the investigation from the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The trial for capital gains and market manipulation – as well as other charges – was transferred to the capital’s prosecutor’s office because the Court of Cassation ruled that the Turin prosecutor’s office was not competent for this investigation. The club now has 20 days to examine the documents and prepare its defense.
Acea gained 0.7% following its board of directors approved the finalization and presentation to Roma Capitale of a project financing proposal for the concession of the network management and public lighting service of the capital .
The presentation of the spontaneous proposal to Roma Capitale, a party linked to Acea as a controlling entity, represents the introductory act of an articulated procedure, also characterized by a possible and preliminary dialogue phase with the Capitoline administration, aimed at assessing the feasibility of the proposal.

Among small-cap companies, Trevifin rose 2.2% following extending its 2022-2026 business plan for another year, to 2027.
