[Now News Channel]The European Parliament has passed two annual executive reports on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Common Security and Defense Policy, criticizing China for suppressing democracy and freedom in Hong Kong, and calling for stronger relations with Taiwan.
The executive report passed by the European Parliament severely condemned China’s human rights violations in Xinjiang, as well as China’s suppression of democracy and freedom in Hong Kong and Macau. The report also criticized that China’s provocative actions in the East China Sea and the South China Sea affected freedom of navigation, and urged the EU to assess the possible consequences of regional conflicts on EU security.
The report also proposes to support Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the activities of international organizations and the establishment of partnerships with Taipei. The report also reiterated that it is opposed to unilaterally undermining the status quo across the Taiwan Strait, and that changes in cross-strait relations must not go once morest the will of the Taiwanese people.
The spokesperson of the Chinese mission to the EU pointed out that the European Parliament’s report attacked and smeared China’s human rights situation.
