The European Parliament on February 14 voted to adopt a ban on selling petrol car and diesel oil in 2035.

The European Union (EU) member states have approved the ban and will now officially enact it into law.

Supporters say the ban will set a clear deadline for European carmakers to switch production to zero-emissions electric vehicles.

It also fuels the EU’s ambitious plan to become an “emission-neutral” economy by 2050, with zero net emissions of greenhouse gases.
