European multisports: bronze for Ticino Colombo in cross-country! – rts.ch

Filippo Colombo won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Munich. The victory went to the favourite, the British Olympic champion Tom Pidcock. The Ticino was also overtaken by the Dane Sebastian Fini Carstensen.

The Ticino is therefore doing as well as last year in Novi Sad. And as in Serbia, he was edged out by the Dane Sebastian Fini Carstensen. On the other hand, the European champion this time is not the Swiss Lars Forster but the Olympic champion Tom Pidcock.

Pidcock too strong

The Briton controlled the race by his hand without ever shaking. Shortly following halfway, he decided to pick up the pace and no one might answer. Winner of a stage in the Tour de France this year, world cyclo-cross champion, Pidcock even allowed himself a figure of speech on a jump. At 23, the runner from Leeds is truly a class apart.

Will he take part in the Worlds next week in Les Gets? Given his form, he would be wrong not to go and try to recover a title he lacks. But this time, he will have Nino Schurter on his way, since the Grison preferred not to go to Germany to be on the attack at the Worlds.

Nice Swiss group shot

Note once once more the superb overall result of the Swiss. Thomas Litscher placed 5th, while Lars Forster, Andri Frischknecht, Vital Albin and Joel Roth took 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th places.
