In April 2021, 12 very big names in European football announced their decision to create a Super League which would replace the current Champions League. Among them were Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Juventus Turin. A few days later, these beautiful people backtracked in front of the almost general outcry aroused by this initiative.
Super League: The Anatomy of a Fiasco on Apple TV+
Apple TV+ is going to offer a four-episode documentary series on this subject called Super League : The War For Football. It will be broadcast from January 13, and a first trailer has just been released.
This creation is directed by Jeff Zimbalist, already winner of an Emmy Award in the past for The Two Escobars. In production, we also find Connor Schell, also awarded an Emmy in the past.
The synopsis remains rather vague for the moment: “The fate of football hangs in the balance when its leaders must uphold – or upend – the traditions of the world’s most beloved sport”. However, Apple promises us that this documentary will give voice to the various protagonists of this affair. We will thus hear the different sounds of the league presidents, club owners, but also the thinking heads of this Super League.
Lately, the streaming platform has been receiving a lot of praise for its creations. This week alone, we told you regarding the distinctions obtained by Severance et Pachinko at the AFI Awards.
Also note that for the holiday season, Apple offers two months of free subscription to the service for any new subscription. You can find all the details on this offer in our article.
