European elections: The blue Eurolist with Beleris 2024-04-16 08:52:33

Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his speech called on the citizens to give a message of stability and continuity in the European elections of June 9 and addressing the present ministers, MPs and executives of the National Democratic Party. he told them that “we must take the European elections seriously and fight the loose vote. In the 50 years of the N.D. we have to give our party another great victory”, and he emphasized: “I hear many people saying “I want to send a message”. I raise the gauntlet and answer: send a message of stability in the elections.”

Regarding the ND’s European ballot paper, he said that this explains why the ND is the largest party in Greece and in the whole of Europe. “The N.D. it is a great river bed that unites all the forces of Hellenism”, stressed the Prime Minister. “In this European ballot, people from different paths meet, representing every corner of Hellenism worldwide, and they can be housed together under the same political roof. This is the European ballot paper that will claim the vote of the citizens”, said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, calling on people to pay special attention to those who are not “better known”.

Continuing, Mr. Mitsotakis, referring to geopolitical tensions and Immigration, said: “The next European Parliament will face many and great challenges and that is why the ND it must be strong the day following the election. 2024 is not 2019, things have become very difficult and Europe is trying to play a leading role in a changing world. We are voting for a strong ND, so that we can continue to fight big battles, as we fought them at the European level for the past five years. Battles that we won and that allowed us to turn Greece from a black sheep of Europe into a country that speaks credibly regarding its own and European problems, are at the center of European developments.”

He also added that the big bet of the next period in Europe is the financing of the defense policy and the revision of the CAP. “Who will give the European Parliament these crucial battles? It must be the strong ND”, noted Kyriakos Mitsotakis and referring to the opposition parties, he said that “the slogan ‘Mitsotakis should fall’ does not constitute a political proposal”.

The prime minister in his speech pointed out, among other things:

“Greece is once once more at the center of European developments and we must secure and strengthen this.

Who and whom do we want to go to Europe to negotiate the new Recovery Fund? Whether this tool should get permanent features will open the debate.

Europe is being tested, we have a new crisis in the Middle East. The debate on joint financing of defense has been opened. Initiative for joint financing of defense expenditure from the defense budget. It is not enough for us as member states to finance our own independent defense alone, we must also mobilize independent resources for a changing Europe.

We were not the political family that suggested a green transition in the agricultural sector that is running at such speed. We said “maybe we should go slower?”.

Strong N.D. which will result from the result of the June 9 European elections.

Demographics must be addressed with more coherent European policies, which will frame what we do in our country.

N.D. it must be strong on June 9. In the European elections, we are not only voting for Greece in Europe, it is a national ballot box with a political impact on the internal political situation as well. The stronger the N.D. on June 9, the more stable the country will be and the faster and bolder we will be able to advance the great changes you gave us the mandate in June 2023.”

Referring to the postal vote, he pointed out that “we have representation from 111 countries in the postal vote. A great legacy of democratic reform.

We have done all this in 9 months, imagine how much we will do in 4 years, when the citizens send a message of stability in the European elections on June 9.

On the other hand, there seems to be an obsession: for Mitsotakis to fall. This does not constitute a political proposal, nor an alternative governance and proposal for the future of Europe

Let’s take the European elections very seriously. Exorcise the loose vote. To tell our disgruntled fellow citizens that they need to see the big picture, especially at a time when everything is getting more difficult. Greece has succeeded and has established itself as a pole of stability.

Look at the big picture, let’s mobilize and rally our world, explaining why the great victory of N.D. it matters so much.

The European elections are the last national ballot before the 2027 elections.

Me in the front line to go around Greece as I know how to do it well. On the evening of June 9, let’s achieve another great victory”.

Despite the fact that until Sunday night the most likely scenario was that Freddy Beleris was not a candidate, finally yesterday morning he announced to his close associates that he finally made the decision to put the imprisoned mayor Heimarras on the European ballot.

It should be noted that the prime minister had received suggestions for the participation of Freddy Beleris in the ND ballot. already at the beginning of March, when his appeal to the Constitutional Court had also been rejected and the case of the Municipality of Heimarra was headed for a dead end, and while it was already clear that there was no way to compel Edi Rama to accept the results of the elections. The two who were mainly fighting to get on the ballot were the former Minister of State, Stavros Papastavrou, who had visited Beleris in prison, and the Minister of State, Makis Voridis.

There were, of course, objections from several factors, who believed that Beleris’ candidacy would further complicate Greek-Albanian relations, as well as our country’s relations with the USA and Germany. Finally, Mr. Mitsotakis made his decisions, choosing to support the Northern Epirotians, but also the right wing of the N.D.

Freddy Beleri, if his sentence remains as it is, will be released on September 12, as according to Albanian law one day of pre-trial detention counts as one and a half. But the Albanian government, wanting to avoid the outcry of keeping an elected MEP in prison, will probably give an order to the court so that in the hearing of the appeal, which is expected to take place from May 10 to 25, the sentence will be reduced and immediately following that he will be released from prison.

According to information, the Albanian government plans to hold new elections in Heimarra in June, probably following the European elections. However, the first reactions of Rama’s government officials were provocative, as they attacked our country because it nominated a convicted and imprisoned politician in Albania.
