European Championships: Three times gold for Germany’s canoeists | Sports

The gold rain continues!

On Friday, Tobias-Pascal Schultz (27/Essen), Tom Liebscher (29/Dresden), Martin Hiller (22/Potsdam) and Felix Frank (29/Karlsruhe) won gold over 1000 m in kayaking at the European Championships in Munich. Four. Second, less than half a second behind, is Spain (+0.453s), Hungary wins bronze (+2.574s).

Liebscher was in the boat instead of Jacob Schopf (23), who won the kayak one over 500 m just ahead of Hungary’s Adam Varga (+0.225 seconds) and Fernando Pimenta (Portugal, +0.791 seconds). It was already the sixth gold medal at a European Championship for the Liebscher from Dresden.

The duo Sebastian Brendel/Tim Hecker (34, Potsdam/24, Berlin) also won gold in the canoe pair. The two are not only defending the European Championship title, but following winning the World Cup two weeks ago they are celebrating their next triumph in a major competition.

Brendel: “We are happy that we were able to win the gold medal in the first final. That’s a nice feeling and gives hope for the 500 meters.”
