European Championships: Lotte Kopecky still in gold!

And two for Lotte Kopecky! After the elimination race, the Antwerp woman offered herself, this Sunday, on the Munich velodrome, the European title in the points race, a test that she crushed with her power. Wearing his beautiful rainbow jersey, Kopecky did not wait long to take a trick from all his opponents and offer himself a decisive 20-point jackpot.

From there, our compatriot only had to control events, while racking up points at almost every intermediate sprint. Lotte Kopecky thus won her third senior European title, all disciplines combined, following theAmerican in 2016 and the elimination race on Saturday.

To establish her insolent supremacy, the Antwerp native took another lap in the peloton…twice at the end of the race. Great art as evidenced by the final ranking: 1. Lotte Kopecky 85 pts; 2. Silvia Zanardi (Ita) 53; 3. Victory Berteau (Fra) 47.

“I suffered, but I also had fun. Victoire Berteau’s attack at the start of the race was dangerous but, fortunately, the peloton did not let her go. I might have saved more forces, but I waited for the right moment to take points on the lap. I was well in my race and it was nice to control in this way. It is fantastic to win the European title with the world champion jersey on shoulders.”
