European Championship final not in danger for Morata after unintentional ‘tackle’ of security guard

Spain captain Álvaro Morata will be able to play in the European Championship final on Sunday. The attacker appeared to be injured on Tuesday evening when he was tackled by a security guard following the semi-final victory once morest France. He wanted to stop an intruder and slipped in the process.

Today the striker said that he is doing “very well” and that the final is not in danger. “It was a yellow card for the security guard,” Morata laughed.

‘Painful, but not bad’

On Tuesday evening, Morata’s teammate Rodri already said that the injury was probably not too bad. “It was painful, but I don’t think it’s that bad.”

The security guard sprinted across the field in the hope of stopping the intruder, but he slipped and hit Morata on the ankle. The 31-year-old striker was clearly in pain, clutching his leg and biting back the pain.

Spain won the semi-final 2-1 once morest France. In that semi-final, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal drew all the attention. He scored with a magnificent shot from a distance and became the youngest ever European Championship goalscorer.

Tonight England and the Netherlands will play each other in Dortmund for the other place in the final. After the 21:00 match we will know which country will take on Spain, next Sunday in Berlin.
