Kogler and Mayer meet European culture ministers and take part in the opening ceremony
Vienna/Bad Ischl (OTS) – Vice Chancellor and Minister of Culture Werner Kogler and Secretary of State for Art and Culture Andrea Mayer will attend the opening of the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl – Salzkammergut this evening and will meet the international counterparts present in advance.
“The Cultural Capital of Bad Ischl Salzkammergut is the central event of the 2024 cultural year in Austria,” said Art and Culture State Secretary Andrea Mayer. “I am very pleased that so many international guests are expected. The Capital of Culture gives the region and thus the whole of Austria the opportunity to present itself on the European stage as a cosmopolitan host and is therefore an opportunity to build new artistic and social bridges. Precisely because there was a lot of discussion beforehand, it is also an example of the power of commonality and constructiveness and therefore a role model for Europe.”
“Together with our guests we are celebrating a peaceful, colorful, creative Europe today. The idea of the European Capital of Culture is an expression of this Europe. It is a Europe of peace, freedom and progress that is in danger and must therefore be actively defended and strengthened. We are all challenged. The good news: We can succeed if we come together and face the big challenges together,” said Vice Chancellor and Minister of Culture Werner Kogler.
