LONDON: More than half of Europe’s population might be affected by the omicron variant of Kovid in the next six to eight weeks, warns Hans Clagz, director of the World Health Organization’s Europe. In the first week of this month alone, 70 million cases were reported in Europe.
In the US, 13.5 lakh Kovid cases were reported yesterday alone. China cancels more than 60 flights from US Patriarch Porfirige (60) of the Serbian Orthodox Church became a Kovid positive.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been fired once more for allegedly violating the norms of drinking alcohol on Downing Street during Britain’s first lockdown. Boris’ personal secretary sent out invitations to the party.
Do not dismiss the Kovid threat
Earlier in the day, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that the severity of the fever had subsided and that it should no longer be seen as a flu. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) said it was too early to say how the virus would develop.
Millions killed in Poland
The death toll from the Kovid has crossed one million in Poland, where the number of people vaccinated is lower than in other European countries. Poland is also plagued by a shortage of health workers. Britain, France, Italy and Germany are the other European countries where the Kovid death toll has crossed one lakh.
