Europe to ban Russian oil: Putin to rely more on India and China? | Vladimir Putin Russia Oil

Brussels: The European Union (EU) summit has decided to suspend most of Russia’s fuel imports to Europe by the end of this year and to provide $ 9.7 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine.

The decision to suspend maritime fuel imports comes as part of additional sanctions to punish Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. Imports through the pipeline will continue, despite Hungary opposition.

EU chief Ursula von Der Lein has said that 90 percent of Russia’s fuel imports to Europe will be cut off by the end of the year. However, no definite action has been taken regarding the resumption of foodgrain exports from Ukraine. Millions of tons of grain are stored in the country.

Earlier, the European Union (EU) imposed five-point sanctions on Russia over its involvement in the Ukraine conflict. However, there was no consensus among the leaders on the fuel embargo. About 40% of the EU’s natural gas and 25% of its oil comes from Russia.
