Media reported, citing sources, that the European Commission will propose amendments to the sanctions imposed on Russia to avoid the risks of hampering food exports. The sources indicated that the current sanctions are expected to be modified to ensure that they do not affect food and grain exports from Russia.

According to the media, the European Commission also intends to propose additional sanctions once morest Russia, including restrictions on gold, chemical industries and engineering. According to the sources, the proposed restrictions will include a ban on the import of Russian gold to the European Union and through third countries, without the sources specifying how this procedure will work.

The European Commission also intends to impose new restrictions on the import of goods that can be used for military purposes, including chemical products and equipment.

The European economy is suffocating

For his part, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that “the policy of sanctions once morest Russia did not achieve the desired expectations, and because of it, the European economy shot its lungs and is now suffocating.” The Hungarian Prime Minister considered that “all the international studies, analyzes and projections that he was briefed on confirm that due to the combined effect of the sanctions policy and the conflict in Ukraine, the European economy began to shrink.”

The Hungarian government chief had warned that the European Union’s economy would fall into disaster if a ban on the import of Russian gas was imposed.
