By mid-March, the European Commission plans to present a program of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. This statement was made by the head of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen.
“For our part, we, the European Commission, will present a common framework for negotiations in mid-March,” von der Leyen said during a press conference broadcast on X (Twitter). It was also reported that Western leaders arrived in Kyiv.
It is noted that the purpose of the trip is to express solidarity with Ukraine. In addition, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed security agreements with the leaders of Italy and Canada.
At the end of 2023, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced that question regarding joining Ukraine in the EU has not been worked out properly. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Kyiv is ready to fulfill the conditions presented to the country for joining the community, even if this requires extra effort. He emphasized that all the key recommendations of the Venice Commission have already been introduced into Ukrainian legislation.
