Local players facing the best snipers in the world on precision shooting, it’s the curtain raiser for the Europétanque des Alpes-Maritimes!
From October 18 to 20, the Europétanque des Alpes-Maritimes is back for a new edition. The year 2023 was full of new things, with a change of scene and date. Now taking place in autumn, the event stands out as a major moment at the end of the season. After Nice, head for the Cagnes-sur-Mer Racecourse. After last year’s success, the Europétanque is doing it again on the shores of the Mediterranean. As the curtain rises, it’s time for an unusual show between champions and local players!
Facing the best gunners in the world
Before the start of the triplet competition, the event offers an original confrontation. Friday, time for precision shooting, with unexpected duels. The concept: eight local players, from the Alpes-Maritimes department, face eight of the best shooters in the world. The greatest snipers of the moment are there: Dylan Rocher, Henri Lacroix, Diego Rizzi and Mickaël Bonetto… Very heavy!
To complete this crazy cast, we also find Antoine Cano, the multiple world champion and very recent French champion Michel Loy, or the Spaniard Raoul Martinez and the Malagasy Lahatra Randrianamantany. Among the local shooters, a regular at the very high level slipped in… Winner of the Marseillaise 2023 and European U23 champion, Mayron Baudino defends the colors of the CASE club in Nice!
A tour through the department
In order to win the right to face the great champions, the Maralpin shooters came from a tour of six stages spread across the Alpes-Maritimes. Cannes, Nice twice, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Saint-Paul-de-Vence and Beaulieu-sur-Mer, a real postcard. “The Department is the first sponsor of the event,” presents Thierry Buiatti, president of the Europétanque des Alpes-Maritimes organization. “This tour allows us to highlight local communities, but also to show the roots of pétanque in our territory. It’s a way for us to energize the event with a fun concept.”
