“Being competitive in the Europa League”

If Olympique de Marseille imagined more of a future in the Champions League than in the Europa League, it remains no less ambitious when it comes to tackling this new European campaign.

“The goal is to be competitive in the Europa League,” insisted OM president Pablo Longoria on Thursday.

“It’s a European competition, we must always respect it. It’s a responsibility for the club, for our supporters but also for French football”, he continued, while France is neck and neck with the Netherlands in the ranking of the UEFA index which determines the number of qualifying places per country for the various European competitions.
