Only a few days left before the start of EuroBasket 2022, and before diving for good into fifteen days of FIBA basketball, we thought it would be useful to remind you of some useful information. No, the games aren’t at 2 a.m., no, they’re not on NBA League Pass, and no, there’s no Stephen Curry or LeBron James. Which teams, when, where? We will explain everything to you. How do you pass the pools and how do you become European champions? We will explain everything to you.
When ?
We start slowly, there’s nothing simpler. From September 1 to 18 inclusive, with breaths scheduled for the 9th, 12th, 15th and 17th, dates chosen by FIBA to allow you to have a semblance of social life (to sleep).
The group stages begin this Thursday, September 1 and end on the 8th, yeah it’s very dense with five games to play in eight days. The round of 16 will take place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11, the quarter-finals will be played on September 13 and 14the semis on the 16th, and the fireworks will therefore be held on the 18th with the small final and the match for the title.
Where ?
This EuroBasket 2022 will take us on a journey. Four groups and four venues chosen by FIBA.
- Group A will be played in Georgia, at the Tbilisi Arena.
- Group B (that of France) will be held in Cologne, Germany.
- Group C will see Giannis Antetokounmpo offend humans near Prague in the Czech Republic.
- Group D will notably host Nikola Jokic in Italy, not far from Milan.
Once the pools are over, everyone will meet in Berlin for the final phase.
Who ?
24 nations, divided into 4 pools of 6 teams. Everyone plays once morest everyone in their group (i.e. 5 matches), and the top four from each group advance to the Round of 16. Zou, take a look at the groups, and we’ll explain the rest to you in stride.
- Group A: Spain, Turkey, Montenegro, Belgium, Georgia, Bulgaria
- Group B: Slovenia, France, Lithuania, Bosnia, Germany, Hungary
- Group C: Greece, Croatia, Italy, Estonia, Ukraine, Great Britain
- Group D: Serbia, Poland, Czech Republic, Finland, Netherlands, Israel

To make it clearer? Group A crosses with Group B (first once morest fourth, second once morest third, third once morest second and fourth once morest first), and Group C with Group D. For the rest, it’s difficult to be more explicit, it’s still numbers and letters but with Nikola Jokic instead by Bertrand Fox.
And the matches, where do we watch them?
As we are much too lively, we made you a big TV program right here for the first week, but to sum up, know that it is better to have a Canal subscription to make the most of this Euro. Another hooligan technique but not free either: the FIBA Pass, knowing that if the Blues advance in the competition it is on France TV and… M6 that we might find Boris Viaud, Evan Fournirel and Rudy Bobert.
Finally, note that this EuroBasket 2022 will not qualify anyone for the next World Cup and even less for the 2024 Olympic Games. The carrot is a title of European champion, sacred carrot all the same, and all these beautiful people will therefore meet on Thursday for a huge fight. You will be here ? We will be.
