Euro strengthens, ECB speculates to raise interest rates | RYT9

The euro is strengthening today. Respond to the trend that the European Central Bank (ECB) will signal an interest rate hike tomorrow.

As of 10:25 p.m. PST, the euro appreciated 1.31% to 143.71 yen and rebounded 0.35% to $1.074.

The ECB will hold a monetary policy meeting tomorrow. Amid expectations the ECB will signal a rate hike in both July and September to curb the spike in inflation.

Francois Villeroy de Gaalhow, Governor of the Bank of France said earlier that It is highly likely that the ECB will raise interest rates at its July and September monetary policy meetings.

“If you look at what ECB President Christine Lagarde said, you’ll find that the ECB will definitely raise interest rates. While the ECB’s board members are of the same opinion,” Villeroy said.

Ms Lagarde said the ECB was likely to raise interest rates in July. And deposit interest rates will be positive at the end of the third quarter from the current -0.50% level.

Investors were expecting the ECB to raise interest rates by 0.25% in July, before raising another 0.50% in September, following it voted to keep the interest rate unchanged at 0% in April. which is the lowest level on record
