The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor added in a press release that “deprivation of essential treatment, food and other materials indispensable for survival is a slow killing of those who were not directly killed by the Israeli military attacks.”
He added, “We receive dozens of complaints daily from Palestinians who need to travel or their relatives to receive life-saving treatment outside the Strip, given that most hospitals are out of service due to the Israeli siege and targeting.”
He pointed out that “the health crisis has been seriously worsening since Israel closed the Rafah land crossing with Egypt last May, which prevented thousands of injured and sick people from traveling to receive treatment and led to the death of hundreds of them so far.”
He stated that “the data of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza indicates that there are more than 12,000 injured and 14,000 patients in need of urgent external transfer to save lives.”
He explained that “these are part of the tens of thousands who are in dire need of travel in order to complete treatment or receive necessary health and rehabilitation services that are not available in the Strip.”
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said that “deaths due to the lack of medicines, treatment, or adequate health care are in the dozens every day, and they are not officially counted among the victims of the ongoing Israeli military attacks.”
He stated that “the data indicates a significant increase in the death rate in Gaza during the past months compared to the same period in the previous two years, and this is related to hospitals being out of service and the collapse of the health system as a result of the systematic Israeli targeting.”
He warned that “thousands of cancer patients are facing severe suffering and are threatened with death due to the lack of treatment and their need to be transferred to travel to receive chemotherapy doses.”
He added, “The ongoing siege and closure of crossings after the Israeli destruction of hospitals and health facilities in Gaza and putting most of them out of service means an Israeli decision to carry out a mass execution of patients and the injured and to deliberately kill them.”
He added, “Israel is committing full-fledged war crimes against hospitals and protected persons, including the wounded and sick, in Gaza, without respect for the rules of international law.”
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said, “Urgent action is required to lift the siege on Gaza, bring in medical supplies to save the lives of sick and wounded civilians, guarantee the right of patients to travel for treatment, bring in the necessary supplies to rebuild the health system immediately, and ensure its protection from Israeli targeting.”
Israel has been continuing its war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, leaving 39,583 dead and 91,398 injured, most of them children and women, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
