CANADIAN tennis star Eugenie Bouchard will appear in an exhibition match against local celebrity Luna Maya at the Gelora Bung Karno outdoor tennis stadium, Central Jakarta, Sunday (8/9).
The tennis player who was once ranked fifth in the world recorded a series of achievements, namely being the 2014 Wimbledon singles finalist after finishing in the semifinals of the previous two Grand Slams, the Australian Open and the French Open.
Bouchard, who is still actively pursuing a professional tennis career, also won the 2013 WTA Newcomer of the Year and 2014 Most Improved Player awards.
Event initiator Emil Malik Ibrahim said he had collaborated with the Central Board of the Indonesian Tennis Association (PP Pelti) to make the event a success.
“Eugenie Bouchard said she wants to come to Indonesia but she doesn’t want to just go for a walk. If possible there will be an event as well,” said Emil in
written statement, Wednesday (4/9).
“PP Pelti will prepare national tennis players as worthy opponents for him as well as all match equipment for the event.

The exhibition match will include a doubles match between Eugenie Bouchard/Emil Malik Ibrahim facing PP Pelti Chairman Nurdin Halid and Indonesian junior tennis player Nauvaldo Jati Agatra.
Next, Bouchard will duet with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, Donny Ermawan against the young pair Nauvaldo/Alditho Ramadhan Dwi Kurniawan.
Lastly, the celebrity match, Bouchard and Maria Selena vs Luna Maya/Aldhito.

Not only appearing in exhibition matches, PP Pelti Secretary General Andi Fajar Asti said Bouchard will also provide guidance through training and short sessions.
