Kogler and Voglauer: “Announcement for climate protection and once morest right-wing extremism” – election took place at the Federal Congress in Graz

Graz (OTS) – Today, February 24th, at their federal congress in Graz, the Greens elected climate activist Lena Schilling as the top candidate for the EU elections next June with 96.6 percent. “Congratulations to Lena Schilling on the great election result. The impressive support shows how convincing Lena Schilling is: She is a young woman who believes in a future that is worth fighting for. Your enthusiasm for the most important challenge of our time – saving our planet for future generations – is simply inspiring. So this is good news for climate protection and for Europe’s youth. We are pleased that Lena Schilling is now officially our chosen top candidate for the election to the European Parliament,” says the federal spokesman for the Green Party and Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler.

“Lena Schilling stands up for climate protection and once morest right-wing extremism. It hits on the two most important issues of our time. On the one hand, we have to push forward the climate and energy transition. Ultimately, it’s regarding nothing less than preserving the basis of our existence: our planet. On the other hand, Lena Schilling is a vehement defender of our democracy and the freedoms that come with it. Both – climate protection and our democracy – are currently threatened by right-wing extremists across Europe. “We need Lena Schilling in the European Parliament all the more,” says the Secretary General of the Green Party, Olga Voglauer.

Regarding the EU elections in June, Kogler and Voglauer say: “We invite everyone who is rightly concerned regarding European unification and our liberal democracy: set an example with us. Let us defend our constitutional state and the freedoms we have fought for once morest the attacks of right-wing extremists. We will not leave the future to the LePens, Orbans and Kickls of this world.”
