EU corruption scandal: Accused Kaili under house arrest from Friday – EU

Rome/Brussels/Strasbourg – Vice President Eva Kaili, who was deposed because of the corruption scandal surrounding the European Parliament, will be released from custody on Friday. Kaili will be transferred to house arrest in the morning following a good four months in prison and monitored with an electronic tag, said Kaili’s lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos on Thursday evening. The Belgian judiciary had already decided on Wednesday to temporarily release the Greek politician.
