Neighboring countries receive compensation payments but must allow transit so as not to isolate Ukraine.

Ultimately, once once more, money opened the door to a difficult compromise in Brussels. After the EU Commission had promised the farmers in the affected neighboring countries compensation payments for the cheap competing products from Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria gave up their blockade of agricultural imports from the country attacked by Russia. In addition to emergency aid of 56 million euros (for Poland, Bulgaria and Romania), which was released in March, they will now receive a further 100 million euros from the reserve of the EU agricultural budget. These funds can be supplemented by up to 200 percent with national funding.

According to council circles, only Poland had recently blocked an agreement. The silos there have been extremely full with Ukrainian grain over the last few months. Due to the fall in price, it was not resold to third countries as planned and caused the national market to be flooded. In addition, the storage options for domestic agriculture were suddenly limited.
