The European Union said today through its spokesman that it wants an “independent” investigation following the discovery of mass graves in the Gaza Strip’s two main hospitals.
“It is something that compels us to ask for an independent investigation into all the suspicions and into the circumstances” of this discovery, “because it creates the impression that there may be human rights violations,” said a spokesman for the EU’s diplomatic service, Peter Stano. .
As early as yesterday, Tuesday, the UN called for an international investigation into the mass graves discovered inside the two main hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk expressed his “horror” at the destruction of Gaza’s largest hospital, al-Sifah, and the second largest hospital in the Palestinian territory, the Medical Complex Nasser of Khan Yunis, “and for the discovery of mass graves near these places”.
The Israeli military has denied any responsibility. The allegation that he “buried bodies of Palestinians is baseless,” he said.
