Abu Dhabi | Etihad shared a video on social media describing the progress of Etihad Rail in the Emirate of Dubai. The project, the largest in the UAE, is expected to radically transform the country’s transport, passenger, trade and logistics sectors. Al Qudra and Expo Bridges are also included in the eleven plaques being produced for Etihad Rail in the Dubai region.

The longest bridge on the network’s main line is the Al Qudra Bridge, which spans over 610 meters and is constructed with 15,000 cubic meters of concrete and 4,000 tonnes of steel. The 319-meter-long Expo Bridge was constructed using more than 7,310 cubic meters of concrete and regarding 1,950 tons of steel. The bridge is built on more than 40 pillars. The video ends with a glimpse of Dubai Industrial City’s 5.5 million square meter cargo terminal.

Earlier this year, Etihad Rail announced that its freight network was fully operational. The freight line, which opened in February, includes 38 locomotives and more than 1,000 wagons. Four major ports and seven logistics centers are connected by rail to the freight network across the country. Commuters will be among the biggest beneficiaries of the project. Gottfried Eimer, chief executive of Etihad Rail Freight Networks, said the network would result in significant social and environmental benefits. People will get very good and positive benefits. You can use a train instead of 300 lorries. Instead of people waiting in traffic jams, we are shifting lorries to railways, said Aimar.
