Etihad Rail Company’s Oman-UAE Railway Project: Advanced Engineering and Integrated Logistics Solutions

Oman – The Board of Directors meeting of Etihad Rail Company was held in Muscat. The board also reviewed the development progress of the railway project connecting Oman and UAE. The most advanced engineering methods have been adopted for the project considering the varied terrains along the railway route. This will reduce tunnel work by 25 percent and bridge construction by 50 percent. The project has several tunnels 2.5 km long and bridges reaching a height of 34 meters. The Board also reviewed the progress of different tenders for all the project packages which include civil works, systems, locomotives and trailers.

The board also discussed the company’s collaboration strategies with various entities in the UAE and Oman to establish integrated logistics solutions. These initiatives also aim to interconnect the railway network with logistics services including ports, maritime, land shipping, warehousing and distribution.
