Ethics watchdogs admitted that R. Žemaitaitis violated ethics by calling the US president a nickname

Five members of the commission voted that there was a violation, and three that R. Žemaitaitis did not comply with the requirements of the code.

Ethics watchdogs found that the parliamentarian, in a post published publicly on the social network Facebook on July 12, critically and mockingly assessed the participants of the NATO summit, and when talking about US President Joe Biden, distorted his name and described him derogatorily.

“Public disrespectful statements by Seimas member R. Žemaitaitis about the leaders of NATO member states, their spouses and other responsible persons harm not only the authority and reputation of individual Seimas members, but also the authority and reputation of the entire Seimas as a representative of the nation,” states the conclusion of the ethics watchdogs.

R. Žemaitaitis called the president of the USA “a decrepit old man”, a “bidon”, and called to support the “petition” so that the head of the USA and other participants of the NATO summit “give their armored, protected geldings to UKRAINE”.

“Show unity NATO ladies with your blue dresses and sell those undaroks at auctions and donate the money to mothers suffering in war. I wonder how many of those vanity fair participants will make such a decision?” the MP wrote.

On Tuesday, the Seimas started impeachment proceedings against R. Žemaitaič for his anti-Semitic posts on the social network and appealed to the Constitutional Court to assess whether the parliamentarian’s statements contradict the Constitution.

In May and June of this year, a member of the Seimas published posts on his Facebook account in which he accused Jews of carrying out the deportation of Lithuanians, compared the behavior of the State of Israel to Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

The Attorney General’s Office, in turn, conducts a pre-trial investigation into public contempt and incitement to hatred against any nation, race, ethnic, religious or other group of people. R. Žemaitaitis, who has legal immunity, was questioned as a special witness.
