THE Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) has scheduled a hearing to read out the verdict in the alleged violation of the election organizer code of ethics (KEPP) related to immorality with the accused Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy’ari this afternoon, Wednesday (3/7). DKPP Chairman Heddy Lugito said the hearing would be held at the DKPP Office, Jakarta, at around 14.00 WIB.

Unlike the two previous hearings, this verdict reading was held openly to the public. Previously, Hasyim had undergone two series of closed hearings on Wednesday (22/5) and Thursday (6/6).

Hasyim was reported to the DKPP by a woman with the initials CAT who is a member of the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) in The Hague, Netherlands on Thursday (18/4).

The plaintiff’s attorney from the Legal Aid Consultation Institute of the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-FHUI), Maria Dianita Prosperiani, said that CAT would attend the trial in person this afternoon.

He hopes that the DKPP can impose sanctions in the form of permanent dismissal, aka dismissal of Hasyim, both from the position of chairman and member of the KPU RI.

The complaint against Hasyim to the DKPP regarding immorality is not the first time it has happened. Last year, he was also reported by the Chairperson of the Republic One Party, namely Hasnaeni or often called the Golden Woman.

Although not proven to have sexually harassed Hasnaeni, the DKPP gave Hasyim a final stern warning. The reason is, Hasyim was proven to have a personal closeness with Hasnaeni because they intensively communicated via social media to exchange news outside the 2024 Election agenda.

The last stern warning sanction was not once imposed by the DKPP on Hasyim. In addition to Hasnaeni, the DKPP has given two other stern warning sanctions to Hasyim, namely regarding the acceptance of Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s registration as a vice presidential candidate and regarding the regulation of the calculation of women’s representation in conflict with the Election Law.
