AN: You mentioned hypocrisy in aligning ‘upholding customary values’ with protecting corporate power. Can you clarify?
EC: ‘Conservative’ values frequently enough entail respect for tradition, community, and family. Yet, when these values clash with profits, corporations ain’t hesitating to trample them. I’m calling out this hypocrisy – how can we uphold our values when corporate power eats away at them?
AN: Your words highlight a shared struggle across societal divides. Can you tell us more about your personal experiences fueling this viewpoint?
EC: My family and I – we’re not millionaires. We’re working class, facing the same issues as everyone else. We talk about affordability, inequality, and why things keep getting worse for us, while enriching those at the top. It’s a universal struggle, and it’s time we recognize it.
