Indonesian women’s singles badminton player Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo admitted that she lacked confidence so she played hesitantly which caused her to be eliminated in the early rounds of the 2024 Korea Open.

Competing at the Mokpo Indoor Stadium, Yeosu, South Korea, Wednesday (28/8) Ester was eliminated in the last 32 (first round) after losing to Taiwanese representative Lin Hsiang Ti 9-21, 21-13, 20-22.

“Earlier at the beginning of the game in the first game, I was still hesitant. I felt like I lacked confidence in myself. While in the second game I tried to increase my confidence,” said Ester in a written statement received Between in Jakarta, Wednesday.

“I’m ready to play whatever way I want. The important thing is to be able to perform optimally and play nothing to lose. Thank God in the second game my game was able to come out.”

However, in the third game, Ester admitted that she lost focus. Even so, she managed to regain focus and win in the deciding game.

“Unfortunately, in the final points of the third game when I was leading 20-17, I didn’t dare to attack more boldly and I got attacked instead,” said Ester.
