Indonesian women’s singles badminton player Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo admitted she was impatient when competing in the last 16 of the 2024 Japan Open in Yokohama, Japan, Thursday (22/8).
Ester had to admit the superiority of her opponent from Thailand, Supanida Katethong, through a rubber game with a score of 21-19, 9-21, and 7-21.
Despite performing well and being able to control the game in the first game, Ester said she was caught off guard when her opponent changed her game pattern in the second and third games.
This also made him less able to anticipate Katethong’s attacks well.
“Unfortunately, in the second and third games, the opponent had changed the game pattern. Meanwhile, I followed the opponent’s game. The opponent had…
increase the tempo of the game, while I still appear with the same pattern,” said Ester.
“I felt like I was caught out because I didn’t apply the pattern as I expected in the first game. My opponent was able to get the pattern, while I was impatient and made a lot of my own mistakes,” he added.
However, the member of the 2024 Uber Cup finalist team in Chengdu said he was determined to continue to improve and develop himself, so that he could perform better in the upcoming tournaments he would participate in.
“From here, I still have a lot to improve. From the physical also has to be improved again,” concluded Ester. (Ant/Z-1)
