Seventh in the Austrian Grand Prix sprint, Esteban Ocon had a lot of fun in a hotly contested race in changing conditions.
Eighth on the starting grid for the Austrian Grand Prix sprint, Esteban Ocon occupied this position for a long time during the event, which started in the wet. Always very comfortable in these conditions, the pilot Alpine gave the spectators a good show by ardently defending its position against Charles Leclerc before reaching the finish in seventh place.

Ocon has long circulated in the wake ofAlexander Alboneleventh on the grid but author of an excellent start, without having the possibility of overtaking him due to the higher top speed of his Williams.
“Of course I would have preferred that Alex [Albon] is not in front, because it put me in difficulty: he goes very fast in a straight line, so it is impossible to attack him, but he is very slow in turns”he added.
The Frenchman, however, benefited from the free field when his opponent returned to the pits, in the last part of the race, to try the bet of slick tires while the post was drying. Ocon, he kept his intermediate tires until the finish. A decision that paid off since it allowed him to score more points.
“I was supposed to go back, and in the end I was told ‘stay out’ at the last moment. And I think the right decision was made today, we did it right, we did it right , you shouldn’t put on the slicks and try to lose position. So yeah, I much preferred to stay like that on the track.”commented the Norman, who resisted the return of George Russellequipped with slicks, and beat him for nine thousandths of a second on the line.
