A few days following assuming a new term as mayor of Carlos Paz, Esteban Avilés sent two projects for the treatment of the Council of Representatives that this Friday will have its last extraordinary session. One of the initiatives seeks to reduce public spending with a 20 percent reduction in the salaries of the municipality’s political staff.
Avilés will take office next Monday, August 14, in a ceremony that will take place at 4:00 p.m. at the Arenas stadium. The particularity of the act is that it will have the same actors as in 2019 but in the opposite situation: this time it will be Avilés who will receive the command of Daniel Gómez Gesteira to whom he ceded power on that occasion.
Thus, the 12-year continuity of Carlos Paz Unido, the force with which he came to power in 2011, will be extended for another four years.
With fundamentals that revolve around the problems generated by the inflation that the country is experiencing in the municipal coffers, Avilés promotes the salary reduction in the municipality of Córdoba in which officials receive the highest wages compared to their colleagues from other cities . For example, the gross salary of the mayor and the ombudsman amounts to around 1.5 million pesos, while a councilor or a tribune of accounts receives 1.2 million pesos.
On the other hand, the government that takes office on Monday will have a new municipal organization with fewer secretaries.
Avilés will have five secretariats, namely: Secretary for Cabinet Coordination and Human Promotion, Secretary General and Institutional Liaison, Secretary for Tourism and Innovation, Culture and Sports, Secretary for Urban Community Development and Environmental Management and the Secretary for Public Health.
