Record results and record prize. In the past the two factors did not always go hand in hand. The improvement of the calculation systems and the way in which the parameters to which the bonus is linked have been revised, in the most virtuous companies, has created an increasingly stronger connection, as demonstrated by the history of Essilux which in Italy will eventually pay a bonus result for 2023 of up to 4,400 euros gross for those who decide to convert it into welfare goods and services.
Group results
The group results tell of a long development phase for the multinational eyewear company. In fact, 2023 was the third consecutive year of growth: in particular, revenues rose by 7.1% in 2023 (25.4 billion), by 7.5% in 2022 and by 7.4% in 2021. A dynamic profitability was also very similar: adjusted operating profit and adjusted group net profit in 2023 grew by 7.7 and 9.4%.
The growth of the premium
As the results grew, the prize also grew. The trade unions, Filctem, Femca and Uiltec, shared in the update meeting with the company that, based on what was established in the supplementary agreement, the 2023 performance bonus reached a gross value of over 36.3 million euro, 14% more than the year before: this is also due to the increasingly inclusive incentive and calculation system that was designed by the group which, in Italy, has around 20 thousand employees. According to a joint note from the company and the unions, the bonus was evaluated through the consolidated group financial statement and sustainability indicators and the additional components linked to individual performance. The result of the calculation? The bonus can reach up to 4,100 euros gross and over 4,400 euros gross if the employee chooses to convert the amount into welfare goods and services.
The redistribution of productivity
The national secretaries of Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl and Uiltec Uil, Sonia Tosoni, Raffaele Salvatoni and Benedetta Missaglia, explain that «the redistribution of company productivity is an important part which, connected to the shared actions of reconciling life and work times, demonstrates how corporate social sustainability can not only be achieved but becomes added value in terms of industrial relations at every level”.
The value of industrial relations
For the chief people officer of EssilorLuxottica, Piergiorgio Angeli, «with this performance bonus, the most important in value we have ever paid, we once once more recognize the essential contribution of our workers to the growth and success of the company. Giving value and dignity to their work, while supporting the competitiveness of our activities in constantly evolving economic and social contexts, remains a priority
