Esri integrates with Microsoft Fabric to deliver leading spatial analytics capabilities

2023-11-15 23:07:46

To meet the growing demand for spatial analytics, Esri expanded its long-standing strategic collaboration with Microsoft through a unified analytics platform powered by spatial capabilities. Microsoft Fabric, now generally available as announced today at Microsoft Ignite, will accelerate time to insight and reveal unexplored patterns, trends, and connections through integration with Esri’s ArcGIS software.

Data scientists and engineers, business analysts, and their executive stakeholders who require spatial analytics and visualization in Fabric will benefit greatly from the joint offering. Eris’ ArcGIS integration will allow data to flow across an enterprise, whether working in Microsoft OneLake, Microsoft Power BI, or the ArcGIS environment. Fabric users will receive direct access to sophisticated spatial analysis tools and functions and an extensive library of trusted, curated spatial data for producing intuitive, interactive visualizations and maps.

“Esri and Microsoft are reshaping the way everyone works with data. Data professionals will now have direct access to Esri’s core capabilities from within their Microsoft Fabric environment,” said Jack Dangermond, president of Esri. “We are delighted to continue our important work with Microsoft and see the power of spatial insights unlocked for our shared customers.”

“Integration with Esri enables our Microsoft Fabric customers to gain valuable geospatial insights through access to their powerful spatial analytics technology,” said Arun Ulagaratchagan, corporate vice president, Azure Data, Microsoft.

ArcGIS integration with Fabric will be available starting in Q2 2024.

“Esri and Microsoft are important strategic partners for the Met Office,” said Dr Niall Robinson, head of Product Futures. “With the development of our next-generation Microsoft supercomputer, data volumes will grow exponentially. Continuing to help people make better decisions to stay safe and thrive will require even greater use of ML/AI, both within our company and by our downstream consumers. The addition of Esri spatial analytics to Microsoft Fabric is an exciting new development with significant potential.”
